Always start with a well-cleansed skin.
Then use a peeling (this can be done 1-2 times a week) that is suitable for your skin type, a peeling with or without grains.
Once you are done with that, you can apply a mask to your face.

There are also masks for every skin type! See what your skin needs most. Do you want a good cleansing but also something for extra hydration or something that makes your skin glow? Then use a cleansing mask first and then another mask!
