Perfume

There are many different types in the "fragrances", we would like to discuss these with you.

Eau de cologne: the abbreviation for Eau de cologne is EDC, Eau de cologne contains 2-5% fragrances.
Eau de toilette: the abbreviation for Eau de toilette is EDT, Eau de toilette contains 5-10% fragrances.
Eau de Parfum: the abbreviation of Eau de Parfum is EDP, Eau de Parfum contains 10-20% fragrances.
Perfume or extract: Perfume or extract contains 20-40% fragrances.

Alcohol and water are the most commonly used solvents for fragrances, the higher the percentage of fragrance components, the less alcohol or water is present in the fragrance.

A fragrance is made up of three 'notes': top notes, heart notes and base notes.
Top notes: these are the scents we smell first in the fragrance, these scents disappear quickly after application.
Heart notes: After you get out of the top notes, you smell the heart notes which are often floral scents.
Base notes: the base notes come through last (+/- 90 minutes after application) and linger for a long time, most base notes are woody.

Most scents are grouped into 7 groups:
1. Hesperidée * a citrus scent -> fresh scent such as: lemon, mandarin, grapefruit and lime.

2. Floral * a floral scent -> sweet scent such as: rose, jasmine, violet, ylang-ylang and orange blossom.

3. Fougère * a "fern" scent -> this is often a fresh men's scent using: damp forest, oak moss, ferns and lavender.

4. Chypre * a fantasy scent -> often this is a fresh scent using: bergamot, wood and often patchouli.

5. Boisée * a woody scent -> warm scent such as: forest, wood, moss and light flowers.

6. Ambrée * an amber / oriental scent -> warm scent such as: cinnamon, vanilla and spices.

7. Cuir * a leathery scent -> warm scent like: honey, tobacco, wood and smoke.

These main groups are often subdivided.
